Beach time in Varkala

*This is a Throwback post*

I thought I should put a "disclaimer" upfront that the following posts are from trips taken as far back as...if I am so inclined, 2013 maybe? Pointless? Maybe. A way to reminisce on our wonderful trip, most definitely. Anyways, India was a trip taken in January 2015.

After a night on the houseboat in Allepey our next stop was Varkala, a beach town about 3 hours drive down the coast.

We've been looking forward to visiting a toddy shop and were excited to see this sign. Unfortunately, it wasn't opened when we were there. Oh well, next.

View from our hotel room. We got the "Super High End Traditional" room with balcony and sea view. Nice enough, but not really worth the price paid.

 Papanasam Beach below.

Lovely cliff side restaurants and shops a short walk from the hotel.

Good spot for lunch and on the beach next to our hotel.

 Evening activities on the beach.

Really good naan bread and curry at Sea Queen restaurant. So good that we went back the following night, thouroughly enjoying our bread again until we saw them use the same knife on raw fish and then on cooked bread. Why...did we have to see it?!

New Kerala Café Varkala Kallambalam Road for Breakfast/lunch

Stayed: Varkala Marine Palace   - 5400 per night - splurged on Superior High End room with sea view
